Never Quite the Same

J’lak watched the pink sunset, reminder of the differences between him and the human next to him. Can two empires make peace when they literally, do not see things the same way?

“What do you see?” he asked the human.

“A boat I have to wade out to fetch.”

J’lak sighed.

She gave him a worrying frown. “I see green trees, gray rocks, and blue waves.”

He nodded. Their fifth human ‘ambassador’ at least remembered their visual differences.

“What do you see?” she asked.

He turned away from the beach. “I see potential for peace.”
