So with my last SF novel resting in the gentle hands of my publisher, it’s on to the next project. World building, plotting and character notes are filling my days (or really my nights since that’s when I do most of this). While I enjoy weaving the plot threads, it’s he characters that are the hard part sometimes. I can have an idea or two on who that person is, what their backstory is, etc. But it doesn’t all come to life until I write.
I will likely experiment with more flash fiction as a way of exploring new characters. It worked well for me with Ayaan, giving her a depth that had more impact for me than my original character notes. and if it works, why not keep going with it, eh?
